GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG. 20th. October, 1917.

Sir,

To Secretary of State No. 197

of the 8th. May, 1912. From Secretary of State No.172) of the 14th. June, 1912.

With reference to the Despatches noted in the margin, I have the honour to inform

you that I have received an application 160 from Bishop Pozzoni for an extension of

the land granted for the erection of a Church at Shoukiwan by

an area of 10,150 square feet as show in pink on the enclosed

plan.

2.

The objects of the extension are to bring the church site into alignment with the newly formed path, show in green on the plan, to make a small garden at the

back of the church, and to improve the sanitation of the

locality, as the waste land between the church and the path is

being used as a dumping place for rubbish and for keeping pigs

and poultry.

3.

I recommend that the extension be granted

subject to the conditions set out in paragraph 5 of lir.

Severn's Despatch under reference, with the following addition-

-al conditions:-

(a). The lessee to construct any retaining wlls,

which may be required in connection with the

levelling of the additional area and the

formation of the pathway.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

WALFER LONG, M.P.,
